Tooth Wear

The most common cause of tooth wear is the frequency of which acidic food and drinks such as citrus-based fruits and drinks are consumed. Severe tooth wear is related to gastric acids and reflux. Tooth wear is on the increase and so we monitor and record any changes at all oral health assessment and dental hygiene visits.

Treatment

Wear on the teeth leaves the tooth surface worn, smooth and translucent in appearance, patients often experience sensitivity as the enamel wears and the dentine is exposed. To prevent the progression of tooth wear, we look at simple changes to your diet, products to alleviate and manage sensitivity, before recommending extensive treatment.

Extensive treatment involves adding white filling materials to teeth or special porcelain veneers that can be fitted on the tooth surface to protect against further wear.
