Restorative Dentistry

Composite Fillings

A (direct) filling is a restoration that restores the tooth back to health. If there is tooth decay, an old amalgam filling or existing composite filling that is leaking or decayed, it will be replaced with a tooth coloured, white (composite) filling (depending on the size of the restoration).  This allows us at Linda Greenwall & Associates to achieve long lasting, natural looking restorations.

We use a special glass filling material to cover and protect exposed root surfaces that could cause sensitivity to cold foods and drinks. The fillings not only help to reduce sensitivity but protect the root surface from decay and also improve the appearance.

Digital Dentistry

At Linda Greenwall & Associates we have invested in state of the art equipment to maximise patient comfort and ensure optimum precision in daily treatments. Inlays, crowns, bridges and veneers are all made using digital technology, with the treatment often completed in a single visit.

The ‘Primescan’ 3D scanner is the most advanced of its kind in dental world. Scanning your teeth using a small camera builds a virtual and highly accurate impression of your teeth and mouth without having to have traditional impressions.

Inlay

An inlay is a restoration which is cemented into a prepared tooth, they are recommended when the tooth surface which needs to be restored is too large for a direct filling. An inlay provides a strong, long lasting and natural looking restoration.

Onlay

An onlay is similar to an inlay, providing a strong, long lasting and natural looking tooth and covers the cusps of the tooth surface.

Crown

A crown is a restoration that fits over the whole of the tooth surface. Crowns are recommended if there is little natural tooth left due to decay, large or broken fillings or following root canal treatment, as a way to protect the tooth from fractures.

Bridge

A bridge is a way to fill the space of a missing tooth. The teeth either side of the missing tooth are prepared for crowns, the bridge is made and cemented on to the teeth with the missing tooth joined to the crowns to ‘bridge the gap’

Veneers

A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain which is bonded on to the tooth, to improve the shape or correct defects on front teeth. The latest technology allows for very little enamel to be removed when preparing the teeth.

Bite Plates

A bite plate is a removeable appliance, often worn at night, covering the biting surfaces of the upper teeth. Dr Greenwall and her team recommended them for patients who clench and grind their teeth, suffer frequent tension headaches or have completed extensive restorative treatment to protect against fractures and wear.
